“We often think of spring and summer as the seasons of life, while autumn and winter are described as rest, stillness, or even death. But when we pause and look more closely, it becomes clear that it is not so simple.”
— Louise Dock

In the photography exhibition Seasons, Bjäre-based photographer Louise Dock follows the rhythm of Norrviken through the course of a year. Her images move between intensity and restraint, between emerging life and quiet fading.

Here, the garden’s cycle appears in artistic form, where contrasts come together to create a whole. In the bloom there is energy and movement. In what withers there is preparation. Roots work beneath the surface, buds are set, and seeds ripen. What we sometimes perceive as an ending is also a beginning. Nature does not withdraw – it transforms. Just as in nature, humans too need periods of stillness in order to bloom again.

The Artist - Louise Dock

Louise Dock’s visual language is intimate and unexpected. Plants are not only observed in their expected entirety, but through details and perspectives that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

“I want to capture plants not only in their splendour, but also in silence, transformation, and rest. It is a reminder that beauty exists in everything – even in the fragile, the withered, and the unfinished.”
