The Gardens for the Senses
The Garden for the Senses in Erikshus is a quiet experience where nature, knowledge, and curiosity come together. Here, you are invited to slow down, awaken your senses, and discover how nature can offer both restoration and new perspectives.
Location: Eriks hus
In Eriks hus, Norrviken opens a space for presence and discovery. The Garden for the Senses is an experience that invites more than observation – it asks to be felt, smelled, listened to, and explored. Here, visitors are encouraged to pause and turn their attention to what often fades into the background of everyday life: the breath, the scents, the sounds, and the sense of touch.
Through a series of stations and sensory experiences – from listening and scent to touch and shared moments – the exhibition highlights the importance of nature for our wellbeing. Research shows that even a short time spent in nature can lower stress levels, strengthen concentration, and help the body recover. When we encounter nature through our senses, the body’s own systems for calm and balance are activated.
A Place That Changes with the Seasons
The Garden for the Senses also evolves throughout the year. While its foundation remains constant, each season leaves its own imprint, turning the house into a living space that reflects the rhythm of the garden.
The exhibition is initiated, created, and developed by Norrviken’s own team and forms part of Norrviken’s ongoing work to highlight the garden as a place for wellbeing, reflection, and human connection.
